Four men accused of breaking into a grocery shop of an
Essequibo Coast businessman were yesterday remanded to prison
when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate's Court.
Cecil Glasgow of La Belle Alliance, Richard Peterson and
Moses Ramroop of Lima and Errol Johnson of Westbury, Essequibo
Coast pleaded not guilty to break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that between June 10 and 14 at Westbury,
Essequibo Coast the quartet broke and entered the rice
mill/grocery shop of Vincent Persaud
and stole a quantity of vehicle tyres, lubricants, groceries and
a chain, all to the value of $500,000. According to a police
press release, they recovered the chain saw, tyres and
lubricants.
The accused will return to court on July 5.
